The first day of the new season saw its fair share of upsets and controversy. Hamilton beat Dundee United somewhat comprehensively while both Celtic and Rangers laboured to narrow wins. Inverness Caley went against the statistics and history when they beat Aberdeen - sending the Dons to the basement, while Kilmarnock beat Hibs, giving Mixu Paataleinen more headaches. This weekend, Hibernian take on Falkirk in Edinburgh, the top of the table clash sees Caley welcome Hamilton to the New Caledonian. Former Dons legend Mark McGhee tries to get over his old side as Motherwell take on Aberdeen, Rangers, without defender Carlos Cuellar, sold to Aston Villa earlier this week play a resurgent Hearts under their new manager, while St Mirren, still smarting from that controversial penalty defeat to Celtic on their opening day entertain Kilmarnock.
The Sunday game sees Craig Levein’s Dundee United take on Celtic at Tannadice. |
